Anti-abortion billboard aims to target African-Americans
"The Most Dangerous Place for An African American is in the Womb." Although the statement is clear, the message is not. The billboard was placed there by Heroic Media, a faith-based non-profit out of Austin Texas that promotes alternatives to abortion. The billboard was paid for by ticket sales from an event in Jacksonville, featuring Sarah Palin.
"While African Americans make up thirteen percent of the population in America, they represent 36 percent of the abortions in the United States," says Marissa Gabrysch from Heroic Media. "In the African American community, twice as many deaths have occurred due to abortions than the combined totals of violent crime, cancer, heart disease and AIDS," she continues.
The billboard directs women facing unexpected pregnancies to dangerousplace.com. In that website, women can be connected to help in their communities, such pregnancy clinics. Emergency Pregnancy Services in Riverside is one such pro-life clinic. Counselors there say they discuss all options with clients in a non-judgmental way and carry out sonograms.
"It gives the young lady an opportunity to actually see the baby, it could be sucking its thumb at the time. You get to see the baby's heartbeat, at that point they realize this pregnancy is more than a bunch of cells", says Suzanne Crittendon. She states that after that sonogram, 83 percent of the women who were abortion minded, change their minds.
Planned Parenthood officials here say the money for the billboard could be better spent helping women avoid unintended pregnancy by increasing access to education and family planning services. The CEO of Planned Parenthood of North Florida Staci Fox says that the crisis here is that all should be working together to avoid unintended pregnancy.
"Planned Parenthood trusts all women to make healthy and informed decisions about their reproductive health care including pregnancy, regardless of race or economic status."
The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger in her own words =
"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."
"Eugenics is … the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems."

The only problem I have with the anti-abortion crowd is that when they talk someone into keeping the kid,once it's born,then that person now has the responsibility of taking care of it for the next 18+years and not the group that convinced them;if they would say "OK,we'll pay all the costs associated with -you- raising the kid -we- wanted -you- to keep",I'd be totally down with them. But we know that's not the case,and a bunch of kids either get born to ill-equipped households where the mother/father (if he's around) grow to resent them,or even abuse them,or put up for adoption...which is almost worse-I find it funny that people that can't have kids suddenly get real choosy over adopting one,even to the point of not wanting to adopt "someone else's -problem-" (I've actually heard that statement personally),and we know ain't nobody breaking down a door to adopt the lil brown babies...unless their name is Angelina Jolie.

The only thing that upsets me about this billboard is the fact that it encourages women not to have abortions. There should be more abortions, more protected sex, more birth control, more of everything that Planned Parenthood supports, and less nasty, triflin, unwed, teenage mothers who put money, guns and weed on their babies.

my only issue with that is these hos that use abortions as birth control! you know after the first time u get pregnant and dont want it, that 2 things need to happen...condoms and the pill. i know girls who have had 4 and 5 abortions. that is just wrong, there is a point that they arent getting and it is wrong to do that over and over and over.

...and where are your statistics that show that women are using abortions as a form of birth control? I do not believe that, not one bit! Abortions laws in the US limit women from getting abortions in general so I doubt women are out there having 4 or 5 abortions. And even if they did, it is THEIR body and you can mind your own damn business. You aren't the one that will have to take care of an unwanted child. When you start dishing out money on these children, maybe you can talk, until then leave people alone and GTFO.

I agree 1000% with HYF. People are so damned concerned about our wombs, but as soon as the child is born, they put up the church finger walk out, leaving these un-wed unequipped mothers to fend for themselves.
I also agree with Rena. We need more Planned Parenthood, more condoms, more diaphragms, more sterilization, etc.

LOL That doesn't even make sense. First of all the term "pro-life" is innacurate. You're either pro-choice or anti-choice. Everyone is pro-life. And just because you're pro-choice doesn't mean you can't have kids. I know girls who had abortions when their birth control failed, and then went on to have kids when they were ready. So being alive doesn't mean your parents are against abortion. Anti-choice people are so illogical.

They definitely do get you to have the baby and then after all is said and done...its like "you are on your own now...dueces!!"....Im not saying that I agree with abortions but nor am I against it....some people are just not equipped at being parents...as this sight shows day and day again....and with the way that the economy is today kids are some things that a lot of people do not need right now especially if they cant afford them....are on drugs...selfish...etc. A lot goes into being a parent....and all these prolife people care about is that you dont kill the "baby"...and then you dont and end up giving it up for adoption or end up in an abusive home and end up wishing they were dead instead....how does that sound?...Sarah Palin can eat a sour cream and onion...rusty nail crusted DICK!! Where the hell are the pro lifers when that baby that wasnt aborted gets gunned the hell down? Where is that outrage and indignation passion and protest when the same babies grow into children with no food, and parents that cant find work? They speak strongly against abortion, but are hell bent on pushing abstinance only education! Where the hell are they when the baby they save has to walk through drug and gang infested neighborhoods? They want to be a so called hero and save a life....until its born....then they no longer give a damn about that Black Child!!! Im not advocating abortion, the focus should be on prevention, but they will be quick to want to send the same baby they save to jail or death should they take the wrong payh in life!

i totally agree with everthing above im pro choice all though i hate bitches who use abortion as birth control cuz thats what alot of females do and i most certainly dont condone that shit. But for me this is a really sensitive subject cuz about a week and a half ago i had an abortion myself for medical reasons it was effecting my health to the point i was goin days w/o eating an not allowing me to be well enough to take care of my 4 year old. But as someone said b4 there are too many children out here neglected because momma walked into planned parenthood saw the ultrasound and kept lil Daquaneesha and now got the referee to her already starting line up of kids. Then these will be the same folks lined up hollering about the same broad on welfare and that she shouldnt of had all these damn kids in the first place and now u "stuck picking up the tab" Bitch plz!

You must have been suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidirum. I had that as well, and I damn near died. For Reals. Thank goodness I was able to continue the pregnancy. But anyone who terminates after going through what I went through, I don't blame them one bit.

Some of you are justifying the killing of another human being because, they may grow up and become a nuisance on society. They may, but murder is still not justified. This is a modern day holocaust. Over 55 million children have been killed by abortion since 1973. WHY/HOW IS THIS OK???? So you're telling me, if a doctor kills a baby 1 second after it's born he will be charged with murder, but if he does it a few months before, it's OK? Drunk drivers and killers have been charged with 2 counts of murder if their victim is pregnant, but yet abortion is OK. This is hypocrisy. Abortion is not right because, the government made it legal. Slavery was legal, the extermination of millions of Jews was legal. I don't expect many to agree with me, but I would be remiss not say anything.

Aborted organisims are not human beings, nor are they children, nor are they fetuses. Most abortions happen at the fertilized egg, blastocyst, or embryo stage. And it's not because they will be a "nuisance on society", you just want to make it sound horrible. Get real. It's because they will have miserable, unproductive, horrible, terrible lives either going off to be adopted, or being raised by people who can't take care of them and DO NOT love them. If you cared about children AT ALL, you would support abortion. To say you don't support abortion is to say you hate children and want them to grow up sad, miserable, and without love or the basic things they need. Why/how is that okay? This is horribly racist, but it is an unfortunate truth that african american (women of course) do have the highest abortion rates. Even so, any politician (even a shitty one) should know you can't target one group ESPECIALLY a minority group with this kinda bull shit.
Not gonna lie, I am pro-choice b/c it's the woman's choice to do with her body what she pleases, but I think adoption is better, unless it's like health/rape situations..

Sorry. I'm all for a woman's choice and everything but let's get some things straight. When a woman tests for pregnancy, it's usually around 1 month since her LMP. By that time, the heart is already beating. It may not look like a baby nor will it survive outside of it's mother, but it is alive. Abortion is murder. Plain & simple. Once a heart is beating, it's alive. Whether or not the woman is 4 wks, 10 wks, 13 wks, or even 16 wks... it is alive. And with abortion you're killing your baby.
But hey, it's a woman's body, conscience and soul. She has the right to choose. I just hope she's educated on wtf they're going to do to her body and her unborn child.
