Two Year Old Girl Dies after Thrown from Pedestrian Bridge at Tysons Corner Center

TYSONS CORNER, Va. - A 2-year-old girl has died after police say she was thrown from a pedestrian footbridge at a Virginia shopping mall by her grandmother.

The incident happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Tysons Corner Center .

The suspect, 50-year-old Carmela Dela Rosa of Fairfax, was walking out of the mall across the sixth floor footbridge with the victim and other family members when she picked up the child and threw her over the edge.

Authorities investigated and arrested Rosa who faces murder charges.  Police have no motive for her actions.

The victim was hospitalized Monday night but died from her injuries around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The investigation is continuing.
