I hate to disagree, but I know quite a few Beauticians who specialize in Black hair and its varies conditions ( not like the usual ones who say the specialize in black hair just cause they know their way around a weave and a perm ) and they do treat alopecia.
Although you are right in mentioning a dermatologist who should be your first stop, many times steroid injection are needed, but there are many other treatments as well that en experienced Beautician will be aware of, though it is very very very difficult to find knowledgeable beauticians like that.
