Girl, 11, lured into park bathroom in Moreno Valley, Calif. and gang raped by 7 teens: cops
An 11-year-old girl was lured into a park restroom and raped by seven members of a Southern California gang, according to authorities.
Suspect Michael Sykes, 19, was arrested on Monday in Moreno Valley, about 70 miles east of Los Angeles. The six others - all juveniles - allegedly involved in the shocking crime were taken into custody shortly after the March 10 attack. The crime was made public earlier this week. The horror began at a shopping center when an older girl talked the young victim into going in the Victoriano Park's bathroom in Moreno Valley.
The older girl, who has since been arrested, led the 11-year-old to the bathroom, where the boys and Sykes were waiting around 6 p.m. The young girl, who is believed to be a random victim, returned to the shopping center around 9 p.m. and reported the attack to police. Further details were not immediately available. "It appears they were looking for a victim and lured her back to the waiting males," Lt. Chad Bianco told the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
"I don't know about motivation. I just want to say that it looks like that gang lifestyle and gang activity." He said gang members sometimes rape women as part of an initiation, but this case was unusual because the young men targeted an innocent victim. Only Sykes has been identified by cops because the rest of the attackers are minors. They will face sexual assault and gang enhancement charges. The crime comes shortly after an 11-year-old girl in Cleveland, Tex., was allegedly gang raped by 18 young men and teenage boys.

Not that it's her parents' fault but where were they? An 11yr old is a child. Was she at the mall alone? Did they not notice she was missing from 6-9pm. Just asking in general. I wasn't allowed to go anywhere alone at 11.
