Harvey, Illinois (The Weekly Vice) - Toyrianna Smith, a 20-year-old Illinois woman was jailed Thursday after she allegedly murdered her 3-month-old son before taking his dead body shopping with her.

According to police, Smith had been drinking Vodka at a friends house when she spent the night with the baby and her 3-year-old daughter in a guest room at the house. At some point during the night, the baby began to cry. That's when Smith allegedly pulled a blanket over the child's head and then struck him three or four times in the face until he was quiet.

Later that night when the child began crying again, Smith allegedly placed the blanket over the child's face and struck him several more times in the face. She then pressed down on the child's face until the baby's limbs began jerking and he was quiet. The next morning, Smith dressed the dead baby, placed him in a carrier and went shopping for several hours.

Police believe Smith may have gone shopping to avoid the child's father, who was due to arrive at her home on Thursday. Investigators say Smith then went to the house of a neighbor, who asked why the baby wasn't moving? Although Smith claimed that the baby was sleeping, the neighbor noticed blood on the child's blanket and called 911. The child, identified as Ken Blackman Jr., was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon.

Medical examiners ruled the child's cause of death a homicide and determined that the child had been dead for at least 8 hours before he was brought to the hospital. Smith was booked into the Cook County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. She was ordered held on a $1 million bond. She reportedly confessed to beating the child and provided police with the details of how the baby died.
